JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Logistik (Kalog), a subsidiary of Indonesian Railways Co, will be involved in distributing fishery products using railway lines from Merak Station, Banten to Ketapang Station in Banyuwangi, East Java. This was confirmed by Kalog CEO Hendy Helmi in a press release on Monday (16/11).

According to Mr Helmi, the multi-commodity transport services and logistics terminals provided by Kalog are equipped with cold storage and couriers that use cold boxes. The terminals used as consolidation hubs are Cilegon, Jakarta, Bandung, Cirebon, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo, Cilacap, Surabaya, Malang, Probolinggo, Jember, and Banyuwangi.

"Fishery products from the Eastern Indonesian waters are contained in ports and then transported on reefer containers to Jakarta, and upon arrival they will be delivered using modes of transportation directly to consumers," said Mr Helmi.

Kalog's involvement in fishery product distribution and logistics is part of the government's effort to optimise transportation and distribution services to strengthen the national fishery logistics. (LK/MS)
