JAKARTA - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Agus Suparmanto supports the optimization of various digital platforms to improve the export performance of Indonesian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This support was expressed by Suparmanto after inaugurating IndonesiaStore.ae, a local market platform created by the Indonesian diaspora in Dubai, UAE. "MSMEs must continue to innovate and increase capacity in product development and competitiveness," said Suparmanto in a press release on Tuesday (17/11).

Similar thought was conveyed by Kasan, Director General of National Export Development, on the same occasion. "The IndonesiaStore.ae platform, which is owned by the Indonesian diaspora, is expected to become a platform for Indonesian MSMEs to market their products in the UAE region," explained Kasan.

According to the Ministry of Trade’s data, the trade value between Indonesia and UAE during January-September 2020 reached US $ 2.22 billion, while Indonesia's total exports to UAE were recorded at US $ 992 million. Indonesia's main export commodities to the UAE consist of jewelry, vehicles, palm oil, paperboard and synthetic woven fabrics.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's import value from the UAE was recorded at US $ 1.3 billion. The most imported commodities from the UAE are products of iron, aluminum, propylene, acyclic hydro, and plastic pellets. (KR/VA)
