Maybank explores mediation following losses of Rp 22 billion in customer funds

19 November 2020 11:17

JAKARTA. PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (BNII) is exploring mediation as an option to settle the loss of Rp 22 billion in customer funds.

According to Maybank Indonesia Director Muhamadian, the option will require support from the Financial Services Authority's Department of Consumer Protection. "In this mediation effort, we will prepare replacement funds that we will take responsibility for," he said in a stock exchange filing.

Mr Muhamadian has also denied that BNII is postponing the repayment of its customers' lost funds. However, he added, a number of identification stages has prolonged the investigation.

The case surfaced when a Maybank Indonesia customer named Winda Lunardi reported Rp 22 billion in lost funds to the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency last week. (KR/MS)
