Angkasa Pura I expands Lombok Praya Airport to support MotoGP 2021 in Mandalika

LOMBOK - State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) or AP I is expanding Lombok Praya International Airport in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara to support the hosting of a MotoGP motorbike race in Mandalika in 2021.

The expansion includes the extension and hardening of the airport’s runway from 2,750 m to 3,300 m to accommodate widebody aircraft, the expansion of its passenger terminal in order to accommodate 7 million passengers per year, and the expansion of its apron from 108,100 m2 to 136,300 m2.

According to AP I CEO Faik Fahmi, as of 15 November 2020 the progress of the passenger terminal expansion reached 62%.

“Angkasa Pura I fully supports the expansion of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone as the location of a MotoGP race in 2021 and the development of tourism in Lombok in general through the capacity expansion of Lombok Airport as the gate for international tourists, when international flights are resumed, and domestic tourists,” Mr Fahmi said in an official statement on the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises’ website, Sunday (22/11).
