The purchase of SWR001 retail sukuk reached IDR 14.91 billion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance announced the sale of Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk (CWLS) SWR001 series reached IDR 14.91 billion, after being offered from 9 October to 20 November 2020.

Luky Alfirman, Director General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) of the Ministry of Finance, said that issuance of the retail CWLS SWR001 series was one of the government's efforts to support the National Waqf Movement. Alfirman also admitted that it could improve social investment and productive waqf in Indonesia.

"The government facilitates cash waqf, both temporary and permanent, so they can place their cash waqf in a safe and productive investment instrument," said Alfirman in a press release.

For more info, the retail CWLS SWR001 series was issued with a 2-year tenor and a fixed return rate of 5.5% per annum. These rewards will be distributed to a number of programs that have social and economic impacts on the community.

The Ministry of Finance's DJPPR also stated that SWR001 had reached 1,041 waqf in Indonesia, consisting of 1,037 individual waqf and 4 institutional donors. The majority of waqf are private employees, as much as 45.96% of total waqf. Most orders came from western Indonesia (exclude DKI Jakarta), with a total of IDR 8.05 billion or 53.98% of waqf.
