JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry encourages increased utilization of the food and beverage industry (mamin) through the use of technology. This is because productivity in this strategic sector is expected to be maintained in an effort to meet market needs during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"This pandemic has had a significant impact on the national industry. For this reason, this challenge must be taken advantage of in order to reboot for the advancement of the national manufacturing sector, including the food and beverage industry," said the Head of the Industrial Research and Development Agency (BPPI) of the Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahadi in Jakarta, Thursday (26/11).

The Head of BPPI stated that the food and beverage industry is still consistently one of the pillars of national economic growth. In the midst of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the third quarter of 2020, the food and beverage industry was able to provide the largest contribution to the GDP of the non-oil and gas processing industry with a value of 39.19%.

One of the steps that can be taken is to optimize the industrial ecosystem 4.0 through the SINDI 4.0 platform to increase collaboration and cooperation between stakeholders implementing industrial transformation 4.0 in Indonesia. Through the SINDI 4.0 platform, the Ministry of Industry seeks to improve synergy by connecting the government, consultants, academics, researchers and industry players to be able to support technological transformation, from manufacturing efficiency to marketing.
