JAKARTA - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has ordered the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces and the Chief of the National Police to eradicate the terrorist group who killed four people in Lembantongoa, Sigi, Central Sulawesi. This was announced by the President in a video uploaded on the Cabinet Secretary's official YouTube channel, Monday (30/11).

"I have ordered the National Police Chief and the Armed Forces Commander to increase vigilance. Once again I stress that there is no place for terrorism in this country," he said.

Mr Widodo has also condemned the action of the Mujahideen of East Indonesia (MIT) group in Sigi who burned down a place of worship and six houses and stole 40 kg of rice on Friday (27/11).

"I condemn this inhumane action that took the lives of four Indonesians in Sigi, Central Sulawesi. This act of terror was clearly aimed at provoking the public and destroying national unity," he said.

In addition, Mr Widodo offered his condolences to the families of the victims. "This is a tragedy of humanity, and the government will provide compensation to the victims' families," he added.

The President has asked the public to remain united in the fight against terrorism. "I ask that the public remain calm and united while staying vigilant. We need to be united in the fight against terrorism," he said. (LK/MS)
