01 December 2020 10:48

KLUNGKUNG - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Bali River Basin - Penida has started work on the construction of flood control infrastructure downstream of Tukad Unda, in Tangkas Village, Klungkung Regency, Bali.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said climate change is a challenge in managing water resources in Indonesia. Shifts and changes in the rainy and dry seasons, as well as rain patterns with short duration but high intensity, often result in flooding. "I invite all parties to protect the water catchment area through reforestation and hold back the rate of land conversion," said Minister Basuki.

This work is carried out by PT. Nindya Karya-PT. Bina Nusa Lestari (KSO) with a contract worth Rp 234 billion with the Supervision Consultant of PT. Catur Bina Guna Persada KSO, PT. Multimera Harapan, and PT. Laras Sembada with a contract value of Rp 6.5 billion. Construction began on August 28, 2020 and is planned to be completed in December 2022 through a multi-year contract system. (LM)
