Sales of ST007 sukuk surpassed IDR 5.42 trillion, the highest in history

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance released sales figures for the ST007 Retail Green Sukuk, which reached IDR 5.42 trillion. The sale of this sharia-based debt securities was the highest since the Sukuk Tabungan was introduced in 2016.

Luky Alfirman, Director General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) of the Ministry of Finance, said that most of the buyers from ST007 were millennials with 56.71% or 4,276 investors. "This goes accordingly with the government's goal to encourage millennials to be smart investors and be care about environment," said Alfirman through an official statement.

Meanwhile, the distributor partner - for the commercial bank category - that distributed the most ST007 sukuk to investors, was PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), with a sales value of IDR 1.73 trillion. Then, PT Bank Syariah Mandiri succeeded to be the top distributor partner for Islamic commercial bank category, with a sales value of IDR 133.62 billion. For the fintech category, Bareksa was the top distributor partner, with sales value of IDR 43.30 billion.

For information, ST007 sukuk offering period was on November 4-25, 2020. These securities were offered with 5.50% return and the settlement date is on December 2, 2020. The Indonesian government will use the proceeds from this sukuk to finance various environmentally friendly projects in transportation and infrastructure sector.

"The issuance of Retail Green Sukuk is part of the government's commitment to address the impacts of climate change," said Alfirman. (KR/VA)
