JAKARTA - The government is offering the investment of six Type A land transport terminals to private inspectors. The matter was discussed during a meeting between the Ministry of Transportation and several entrepreneurs in Jakarta on Wednesday (2/12).

According to Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, the involvement of the private sector in the plan will improve services on land transportation. "The central and local governments are collaborating to improve services in land terminals. We want Type A land terminals to be on par with airports," he said in a press release.

The terminals offered are Entrop in Jayapura, Papua; Anak Air in Padang, West Sumatra; Guntur Melati in Garut, West Java; Bulupitu in Purwokerto, Central Java; Mangkang in Semarang, Central Java; and Tirtonadi in Solo, Central Java.

According to Mr Sumadi, the government wants investors from the private sector and state-owned enterprises to invest in terminals managed by the Directorate-General of Land Transportation. "The investment includes building hotels, shopping centres, gyms, sport centres, and culinary areas," he said. (LK/MS)
