JAKARTA - The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has signed a Project Arrangement (PA) with Switzerland to improve renewable energy development.

The PA is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding; signed by Minister of ESDM, Arifin Tasrif, and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Swiss Confederation, on October 9, 2020. Furthermore, Indonesia and Switzerland hope this agreement will be able to open collaboration opportunities in various renewable energy subsectors.

"This document is the beginning of Indonesian stakeholders to continue promoting sustainability and productivity in capacity building," said Prahoro Nurtjahyo, Head of Human Resources Development of Ministry of ESDM, in a press release today.

For more information, this cooperation originated from the desire of Indonesia and Switzerland to increase their contribution to clean energy transition. Indonesia has stated its commitment for a long time, to increase renewable energy to 23% in 2025 and 31% in 2050. Meanwhile, Switzerland has committed to reduce the use of fossil-based fuels by 2020.
