JAKARTA - Two mayoral candidates from President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's family are leading the vote count in Solo, Central Java and Medan, North Sumatra. Quick count from the General Election Commission (KPU) has so far shown that Mr Widodo's son Gibran Rakabuming Raka and son-in-law Bobby Nasution are projected to win in their respective cities.
According to quick count on pilkada2020.kpu.go.id as of Thursday (10/12), in Solo Mr Raka and his running mate Teguh Prakosa are leading with 86.46% of the votes while their opponents Bagyo Wahyono/F.X. Suparjo have won only 13.6% of the votes, with 16,975 votes counted so far.
In Medan, Mr Nasution and his running mate Aulia Rachman have won 52.8% of the votes so far, while their opponents Akhyar Nasution/Salman Afarisi have won 47.2%, with 91,135 votes counted.
Mr Raka is Mr Widodo's eldest son, while Mr Nasution is the husband of Mr Widodo's daughter Kahiyang Ayu. (LK/MS)
