11 December 2020 07:03

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo reminded the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Ministries and local governments to take extraordinary measures to increase financial inclusion in Indonesia. This was conveyed by President Widodo during virtual opening of National Coordination Meeting of 2020 Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD), yesterday (10/12).

The extraordinary method mentioned by the President was for TPAKD action to be more aggressive and innovative in increasing financial literacy, to be more active in encouraging the presence of a number of business groups such as cooperatives and farmer groups in the community, and strengthening financial infrastructure in the regions by supporting establishment of regional credit guarantee institutions and provision of bank agents.

The President said that increasing access to finance in the community would encourage regional economic growth and create social welfare.

By December 2020, OJK has established 224 TPAKDs in 32 provinces and 176 regencies and cities, hoped that the team’s presence maximise the support of government programs to carry out economic recovery. (LK/VA)
