House hopes for realisation of alternative airport in Bali

16 December 2020 09:04

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives hopes that the development of an alternative airport in Bali in addition to Ngurah Rai International Airport can be realised, said House Commission V Deputy Chair Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras during a visit to Bali.

In a press release on Wednesday (16/12), Mr Aras said an alternative airport would support Bali's tourism sector and was already included in the list of National Strategic Projects. "The local government's involvement is expected to resolve the issue of land acquisition for the airport," he said.

According to Mr Aras, Commission VI actively encourages the development of the airport, which is planned to take place in the village of Sumberkelampok, Gerokak, Buleleng. "The development of a new airport is important because Bali often hosts international events, such as the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2022," he said. (LK/MS)
