Astra's car sales decreased 7.15% in November 2020

JAKARTA - The sales performance of PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) cars, in period of November 2020, in the domestic market, dropped 7.15% month-on-month (mom) to 24,425 units (from 26,410 units in the previous month).

In a press release received by idnfinancials.com, ASII's management explained that car sales during November 2020 were dominated by Toyota, which contributed 15,479 units or 63.37% of total sales. Then, Daihatsu contributed 6,772 units or 27.7%, Isuzu 2,103 units or 8.61%, UD Trucks 56 units or 0.23%, and Peugeot 15 units or 0.06%.

Meanwhile, sales of non-Astra cars in domestic market experienced a positive growth of 30.13% mom to 29,419 units, based on the data from Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo). For information, these non-Astra cars include the brands Mitsubishi, Honda, Suzuki, Nissan, etc.

A total of 3,466 cars, sold by ASII in November 2020, were Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) types. Meanwhile, the non-Astra LCGC cars sold in November 2020 were 7,244 units.

Like its sales performance, ASII's car market share, in domestic market in November, dropped to 45%, from 54% in October. Then, ASII's market share for LCGC cars, in domestic market in November, also dropped to 48%, from 65% previously in October.

Nevertheless, Boy Kelana Soebroto, ASII’s Head of Corporate Communications, conveyed that they remained optimistic about car sales at the end of this year. "We hope that people's purchasing power will continue to improve, so it can support car sales in December 2020," he said in a press release, received by idnfinancials.com. (KR/VA)
