22 December 2020 16:18

JAKARTA - PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (SRIL) or known as Sritex, textile company with the largest total assets in Indonesia, denied doing nepotism in goodiebag procurement project for Covid-19 Social Assistance from Ministry of Social Affairs.

Joy Citradewi, Corporate Communication Head of Sritex, admitted that they were contacted by Ministry of Social Affairs to fulfill goodie bag needs in April 2020. "The order has been processed in accordance with applicable procedures," she said through a press release.

Recently, the name Sritex appeared in a Tempo investigation report. In the report, an anonymous source explained that Sritex was successfully obtaining this project due to a recommendation from Gibran Rakabuming Raka, a son of President Joko Widodo.

However, the information was denied by Sritex. "The involvement of Mr. Gibran Rakabuming Raka in this procurement is incorrect. We never communicated with Mr. Gibran Rakabuming Raka regarding this procurement,” said Citradewi.

For information, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), since Monday (21/12), has been exploring various information regarding Covid-19 Social Assistance bribery case committed by Juliari P. Batubara, Minister of Social Affairs who is now inactive.

"Investigators will complete the evidence, data and information, by summoning and examining a number of witnesses," said Ali Fikri, the Acting Spokesperson of KPK in a report. (KR/VA)
