JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry actively encourages tofu and tempeh producers, which are small and medium industry (SMI) players, to continue to increase their productivity hygienically and efficiently. This step is realized through the implementation of various coaching programs, such as assistance, technical guidance on production and food safety certification.

"Easy processing methods, simple machines and equipment, make tofu and tempeh widely produced in all corners of the country. Its dominance is in Java Island, namely in the Provinces of Central Java, West Java and East Java. Most of them are small-scale actors,” said the Director General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Gati Wibawaningsih in Jakarta, Wednesday (6/1).

In order to increase the productivity of tofu and tempeh SMIs, the Ministry of Industry also continues to encourage the application of appropriate technology, facilitation of machinery and equipment, and the use of machinery and equipment restructuring programs. In fact, the green industry program or environmentally friendly industry is also implemented through assisting activities for clean production as well as the facilitation of machines and waste treatment equipment for tofu and tempeh centers. The aim of this program is to encourage tofu and tempeh IKM players towards environmentally friendly business activities.

In addition, to increase efficiency in terms of cost, energy and time, the Ministry of Industry provided assistance for pilot project implementation 4.0 at the Tempeh Sanan Chips SMI in Malang which was carried out by Tempeniza. Tempeniza is the winner of Startup4Industry in 2019 and is a machine manufacturer for various tempeh processing needs by promoting efficient and affordable technology for Indonesian tempeh MSMEs.
