JAKARTA - The Kayu Agung-Palembang Toll Road can save costs and travel time between Bakauheni Palembang along 373 km to 3.5 hours from 12 hours. This was conveyed by the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo when inaugurating the toll road section in Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, Tuesday (26/1).

The President conveyed that the Kayu Agung-Palembang Toll Road is the most important axis of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road project because it shortens the travel time between Bakauheni-Palembang Ports. "This will be a big leap because it saves time by up to 75% and lowers logistics costs," said Jokowi.

According to him, the operation of the 42.5 km toll road will also open up economic opportunities for the surrounding community, absorb new workers and job opportunities. Regional heads on toll roads, he said, should participate in connecting the toll roads with local economic centers. "Provide connecting access so that the maximum economic benefits can be felt," said Jokowi. (LK/LM)
