JAKARTA. Production of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO) in 2020 increased 2% to 72,237 metric tons of nickel in matte, compared to 71,025 metric tons in 2019.
CEO and President Director of Vale Indonesia Nico Kanter explained that in the fourth quarter of 2020, production of nickel in matte was only 16,445 metric tons, down 16% compared to Q3 2020 which reached 19,477 tons. Production in the fourth quarter of 2020 also fell 20% compared to the production in the fourth quarter of 2019 of 20,494 tons.
According to Nico, the decline in nickel production in the last quarter was due to planned maintenance activities. For this reason, Nico expressed his satisfaction over the achievement of the increase during 2020.
