YOGYAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono reviewed the construction of flood control infrastructure to protect Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Thursday (4/2). Minister Basuki is targeting the construction to be completed in two years.
"In order to immediately control YIA floods. Must be completed in two years," he said in a written testimonial while reviewing the construction site.
In reducing the risk of flooding at YIA Airport, the PUPR Ministry through the Serayu Opak River Basin Center (BBWS), the Directorate General of Water Resources built a number of flood control infrastructure in the Bogowonto and Serang Watersheds (DAS). Infrastructure support is carried out in an integrated manner, starting from repair / normalization of river bodies, increasing river capacity, construction of drainage systems, waterways, retention ponds, pump houses, to water storage structures along the river (longstorage), to the jetty building at the Bogowonto estuary.
The construction of YIA Airport flood control is divided into four work packages which will be carried out from 2020 to 2023. The first one is the construction of the West Side of the Bogowonto River Estuary Protection carried out by the PT. Bumi Karsa-Abipraya JO as contractors with a contract value of IDR 389.9 billion. The second package is the construction of the East Side of the Bogowonto River Estuary Protection which is carried out by PT. Wijaya Karya-Aneka Dharma Persada JO as contractors with a contract value of IDR 375.5 billion.
Furthermore, the third package, namely the development of flood control infrastructure for the Bogowonto River, carried out by PT. Brantas Abipraya as contractor with a contract value of IDR 327.4 billion. Finally, the fourth package is the construction of Serang River Flood Control Infrastructure by PT. Pembangunan Perumahan with a contract value of IDR 268 billion. (LM)
