PLTS is the best option in reaching 23% energy mix target

17 February 2021 09:09

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) assessed that the development of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in Indonesia is one of the best options for pursuing the energy mix target of 23% by 2025.

This was conveyed by Dadan Kusdiana, Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), on Tuesday (16/2). "We see the fastest approach through a solar energy utilisation program," he said in a press release received by idnfinancials.com today.

Kusdiana added that the New and Renewable Energy (EBT) mix in Indonesia, at the end of 2020, had reached 11.5%. This achievement was around 50% of the target that had been set, to reduce greenhouse gases by 29% by 2030.

"We only have 5 years to get there, so, if EBT is not achieved, surely the target to reduce greenhouse gases will not be achieved," explained Kusdiana.

To optimise the achievement of these targets, Kusdiana admitted that Indonesian government has placed PLTS development project as a top priority in the national energy development plan. PLTS development will also get special incentives. (KR/VA)
