JAKARTA. The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has set a growth target for the number of investors of 25% in 2021, while the realization of the number of investors in 2020 grew by more than 50% compared to 2019.

The Development Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Hasan Fawzi, said the target growth for the number of investors this year includes capital market investors as a whole including stock investors.

According to Hasan, IDX managed to exceed the target of increasing the number of investors in 2020 by increasing the total number of investors to reach 3.88 million or an increase of 56% year on year (yoy), from 2.48 million in 2019. Meanwhile, stock market investors rose 53% (yoy) to 1.7 million from 1.11 million.

Hasan further said that since the beginning of the year until February 22, 2021, the number of stock investors has increased by 19.76% to around 2.01 million. So he is optimistic that the target of increasing the number of investors this year can be achieved.

According to Hasan, the increase in the number of investors is due to the increase in domestic retail investors. "The existence of digital solutions makes it easier for all parties to invest," said Hasan. (AM/LM)
