JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Yogyakarta Special Region Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) is revitalizing the Piyungan Regional Landfill (TPA), Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY). This revitalization is carried out to extend the operational life of the landfill until 2024.

Piyungan landfill revitalization work has been carried out since 11 November 2020 with a budget of IDR 103 billion in the form of a multi-year contract 2020-2022 carried out by PT. Rosa - Seto, KSO. Until now, the construction of TPA Piyungan has reached 19.28% and is targeted to be completed in March 2022.

Given the high volume of waste generation and limited land in the Yogyakarta Region, it is necessary to have an appropriate technology intervention that is environmentally friendly in overcoming the current waste problem. The PPP scheme in implementing this technology is currently being initiated by the Yogyakarta Provincial Government and is targeted to operate in 2023 so that it can improve waste management in the Yogyakarta region for the better.
