Indonesian F&B transactions in Japan reached USD 12 million

JAKARTA - The transactions value of food and beverage (F&B) products from Indonesia, in the International F&B Exhibitions (Foodex) 2021, reached USD 12 million within 4 days.

During Foodex in Japan, most of Indonesian F&B products that were successfully sold including packaged frozen food. “The transactions, for packaged frozen karaage chicken and frozen Palu durian, amounted to USD 9 million; as well as snack products, chili sauce, and spices that received orders of up to USD 3 million,” said Kasan, Director General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade.

Kasan added, the status of "State of Emergency” in Japan had changed the habits of people to consume packaged frozen food. "The majority of Japanese women are also actively involved as office workers, making frozen food a trend and increasingly popular in Japan," added Kasan.

The Ministry of Trade noted that the export value of Indonesian processed food to Japan, in the past 5 years, had increased by 8.72%. In 2020, it was recorded at USD 211.7 million. (KR/VA)
