JAKARTA. The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) budget for 2021 is reduced down to Rp131.82 trillion from Rp149.81 trillion after being refocused by the Minister of Finance.

Basuki Hadimuljono, the Minister of Public Works and Housing, admitted that this budget refocusing would be used to increase the allocated funds for Cash for Work (PKT) programme from Rp12.18 trillion to Rp23.24 trillion. From this program, Hadimuljono mentioned that there would be 20 projects, which are estimated to open employment opportunities for 1.23 million people.

“Thus, it will contribute to the national economic recovery programs post Covid-19 pandemic,” Hadimuljono stated at the press conference.

As further details, Hadimuljono explained that this PKT programme in 2021 would include the water resources (SDA), roads and bridges, residential, and housing projects. The water resources projects would have a budget of Rp7.15 trillion, the roads and bridges construction projects Rp2.29 trillion, the residential projects Rp5.29 trillion, and the housing projects Rp 4.11 trillion.
