23 March 2021 15:24

JAKARTA - Indonesia and Germany continue to strive to strengthen comprehensive economic cooperation, especially in the industrial sector. The collaboration between the two countries is manifested in one way or another through the implementation of the Hannover Messe as a world-renowned industrial technology exhibition.

"We believe that participation in the Hannover Messe will further strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Germany," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Tuesday (23/3).

Agus explained, Indonesia will become the official partner country for the Hannover Messe event for three consecutive years, namely 2021, 2022 and 2023. "We have received letters from Deutsche Messe in December 2020 and January this year regarding opportunities for Indonesia as the country's official partner in the Hannover Messe 2021 and 2023, as well as special features in 2022," he said.

This year's Hannover Messe will be held completely digitally on April 12-16, 2021. The new digital format adapts to current conditions as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, Indonesia will feature 156 participants who are ready to participate in the Hannover Messe 2021 Digital Edition event. They consist of large-scale industrial companies, small and medium-sized industries and startups, industrial estates, industrial associations, BUMN, as well as ministries and institutions.

In addition, at the opening of the Hannover Messe 2021 Digital Edition, an MoU will be signed between Indonesia and Germany on Quality Infrastructure witnessed by the two leaders. This cooperation aims to improve standardization, technical regulations, accreditation, suitability assessment, metrology, and product safety in order to support bilateral trade activities between the two countries.
