JAKARTA – PT Aplikasi Anak Bangsa, trading under the brand Gojek, was fined IDR 3.3 billion for its late notification of PT Global Loket Sejahtera (Loket) share acquisition. This decision was announced by Deswin Nur, the Head of the Public Relations and Cooperation Bureau of Indonesia Competition Commission (KPPU), in a press conference on Friday (26/3).

Nur stated that this sanction for Gojek was decided through a Commission Council Court held yesterday (25/3). “It violated section 29 of Act No.5/1999 concerning Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition,” Nur continued.

Gojek acquired most of Loket’s shares on August 9, 2017. However, the notification only came 347 days later, on February 22, 2019, while the said acquisition’s notification should be sent no later than September 22, 2017.

Loket is an event platform provider and event creator company. This fine payment should be paid to the state’s treasury and is due 30 days after the verdict made by KPPU. (LK/ZH)
