Ministry of Industry encourages collaboration between IKM and technology startups

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) provides full support for the development of technology startup companies. This is because startups are technology providers that have an important role in building the Making Indonesia 4.0 ecosystem.

"For this reason, the Ministry of Industry encourages the implementation of technology in the industrial sector and society with technological solutions from Indonesian tech startups, so that IKM can become early adopters of technology," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita when opening the pre-conference INDONESIA PARTNER COUNTRY HANNOVER MESSE 2021: TECH STARTUP FOR MAKING INDONESIA 4.0 in Jakarta, Wednesday (7/4).

Early adopters are industry players who are sensitive and open-minded to the use of new technology and actively use digital technology. To encourage the formation of the Making Indonesia 4.0 ecosystem, the Ministry of Industry through the Directorate General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA) holds Startup4Industry every year.

The program aims to come up with technology solutions from technology startups to connect the needs of industry and society with technology providers. "So, startups are able to provide technology services that are easy to use by IKM players," explained the Minister of Industry.

The Ministry of Industry's support for tech startups was also shown through the facilitation of these companies to participate in the Hannover Messe 2021 event. Of the 63 startups from Indonesia who participated in the Hannover Messe 2021, 23 of them were Startup4industry participants. (LM)
