Ministry of Industry encourages sustainable industrial development

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is developing a program related to Smart-Eco Industrial Parks. This is in line with efforts to realize sustainable industrial development and apply green industry principles so as to increase competitiveness.

"Smart-Eco Industrial Parks is a concept of regional development through digital transformation in industrial estate management that encourages the creation of green industrial areas through the use of digital technology and innovation," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita at the opening of the Pre-Conference of the Hannover Messe 2021 in Jakarta, Thursday. (8/4).

In developing the Smart-Eco Industrial Parks, according to the Minister of Industry, there are several aspects to be implemented, including smart energy management and smart water management. "These two aspects are in line with the application of green industry principles, namely efficiency of resources through energy management and water management," he explained.

The Minister of Industry also said that until now Indonesia has 128 industrial estates that are already operating. "Through this Pre-Conference, it is hoped that it can encourage all industrial estates in Indonesia to apply the smart industrial park concept so that an efficient, environmentally friendly and sustainable industry can be created," he said.

In an effort to develop Green Industry Certification, the Minister of Industry has appointed 16 Green Industry Certification Bodies (LSIH) consisting of 10 centers within the Ministry of Industry and 6 LSIH from external (private) Ministry of Industry. (LM)
