JAKARTA - The Hannover Messe 2021 is one of the means of increasing cooperation between Indonesia and Germany. In this event, the Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Industry and the German Government through the Germany Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDoI) to strengthen cooperation in the field of quality infrastructure between the two countries.

"The two countries realize that quality infrastructure is needed to ensure the quality and safety of products and services, in order to provide protection to consumers," said the Minister of Industry while witnessing the signing of the cooperation virtually in Jakarta, Monday (12/4).

The signing of the JDoI was carried out by the Head of the Industrial Services Policy and Standardization Agency (BSKJI) of the Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahadi and Parliamentary State Secretary, Germany Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Elizabeth Winkelmeier-Becker.

This quality infrastructure cooperation aims to strengthen bilateral technical and economic dialogue in the fields of standardization, technical regulation, accreditation, conformity assessment, metrology, and product safety. This is to create a conducive climate, encourage consumer protection, create innovation, increase research and development, and support the mutual acceptance of test laboratory results that are beneficial to consumers and industries between the two countries, and play a role in economic improvement. Due to the wide scope of cooperation, the Ministry of Industry will also involve the Ministry of Trade and the National Standardization Agency for its implementation.

On the same occasion, the Ministry of Industry also facilitates cooperation between two companies from Indonesia and Germany in order to encourage the development of the aerospace and medical equipment industry. One of the reasons for this cooperation is Indonesia's efforts to develop the N219 aircraft. Through this agreement, the two companies will jointly engage in industrial and business cooperation between collaborators and support the exchange of information, such as on national standards and legal practice.
