16 April 2021 07:43

JAKARTA - Two Pertamina Pride Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) ships belonging to PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) arrived at Teluk Semangka, Lampung since the voyage from Japan Marine United (JMU) Ariake Shipyard Japan on February 9, 2021. The existence of this ship will serve foreign markets and transporting crude from the Aramco Oil Refinery to Indonesia.

According to Nicke Wiyawati, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), the presence of the two VLCC vessels will increase the flexibility of transportation for crude oil shipments abroad. In addition, the presence of this ship is also a means of storage at the port. "PIS will become an integrated logistics and marine solution company in the global market," he said in a press release for the inauguration of the two tankers, quoted on Friday (15/4).

Erry Widiastono, President Director of PIS, said that the VLCC Pertamina Pride has been built at the JMU Ariake shipyard since 2018 with a carrying capacity of 2 million barrels of crude oil. "This will facilitate the distribution of energy and ensure the supply of captive crude to Pertamina's refineries using FOB Ras Tanura-Cilacap efficiently," he said. (LK/LM)
