BRI users’ pandemic-prompted credit restructuring went down 20%

29 April 2021 06:06

JAKARTA. The restructuring of the outstanding credits of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) (Persero) Tbk that were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic would be reduced by 20% from last September.

BRI’s Corporate Secretary, Aestika Oryza Gunarto, stated that the users’ credits restructured due to the pandemic reached IDR 193.7 trillion in September 2020. The number decreased to IDR 189.8 trillion by the end of February 2021. Gunarto estimated the declining pandemic-induced credit restructuring would slip by 10 to 20% from its highest level in September 2020.

By the end of March 2021, there have been 2.65 million users receiving restructuring from BRI. This number also went down by 170.000 users from 2.82 million users at the end of January 2021.

Gunarto further explained that BRI facilitated these situations by channeling credits with guarantees, according to PMK 71. “As of early April 2021, BRI has distributed credits with guarantees of IDR 14.59 trillion to 23 thousand users,” Gunarto added on Wednesday (28/4). (AM/ZH)
