11 May 2021 10:21

JAKARTA - The results of the Retail Sales Survey (SPE) indicate an increase in monthly retail sales performance in March 2021. Real Sales Index (IPR) for March 2021 grew 6.1% (mtm), an increase from the previous month's growth of -2.7% (mtm).

Respondents said that the increase in retail sales was in line with stronger public demand ahead of Ramadan, accompanied by favorable seasonal and weather conditions. The increase in retail sales occurred in all groups, especially the Clothing Sub-group, Cultural and Recreational Goods Group, and Motor Vehicle Fuels Group.

Based on the SPE results, respondents predicted an increase in retail sales performance to continue until April 2021. This is reflected in the IPR for April 2021, which is projected to grow by 11.4% (mtm). On an annual basis, retail sales are predicted to increase by 9.8% (yoy) from -14.6% (yoy).

An increase is predicted in all commodity groups, especially the Other Goods Group, particularly the Clothing Sub-group, the Motor Vehicle Fuels Group, and the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Group. (LM)
