JAKARTA. PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya (ANJT), a plantation company with a market cap reaching IDR 1.59 trillion, has begun to export edamame to Japan, amounting to 21 tonnes, in April.

This export initiative is a part of ANJT’s collaboration with Asia Foods Group, a company expert at processing and selling edamame outside Indonesia. As additional notes, the edamame production is carried out by ANJT’s subsidiary, PT Gading Mas Indonesia Teguh (GMIT).

Erwan Santoso, the President Director of GMIT, explained that the company projects annual growth in edamame export following this export initiative to Japan. “We are trying to produce prime seeds while asking more farmers to partner up with GMIT,” Santoso added through the official statements received by idnfinancials.com

Currently, the GMIT factory’s production capacity reached six thousand tonnes per year. With total assets of approximately USD 11.9 million, the subsidiary company has set Japan as its primary export market. Furthermore, GMIT would also expand its export market to the United States and Canada.

Prior to this action, GMIT has sold edamame to several provinces in Indonesia, including Bali, East Java, Jakarta, and Central Java. In 2020, GMIT’s total edamame production climbed up by 32.5% to 941 tonnes. (KR/ZH)
