JAKARTA. PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) recorded decreasing car sales by 8.45% month-on-month (MoM) in April 2021. The number dropped from 45,521 units to 41,676 units.

This decline coincided with the car sales performance in Indonesia throughout April 2021. According to the Indonesian Federation of Motor Vehicles Industry (lit. Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia/Gaikindo), total car sales in Indonesia in April 2021 declined 7.07% MoM to 78,908 unit.

Boy Kelana Soebroto, the Head of Corporate Communications of ASII, claimed that this number is deemed stable enough compared to the same period last year. In April 2020, ASII’s car sales only reached 7,868 units.

“May this position be sustained until the end of 2021 so that it could drive the national economic growth,” Soebroto hoped in an official statement to idnfinancials.com.

As additional notes, the total car sales of ASII in April 2021 consisted of Toyota 23,407 units, Daihatsu 15,861 units, Isuzu 2,357 units, UD Trucks 40 units, and Peugeot 11 units. Furthermore, 11,806 units of the sold cars were under the Low-Cost Green Car (LCGC) category. (KR/ZH)
