Money in circulation increases in April 2021

JAKARTA - Economic liquidity or broad money (M2) in April 2021 grew up in line with seasonal patterns in the month of Ramadan and before the Eid al-Fitr holidays. M2 position in April 2021 amounted to IDR 6,957.3 trillion or grew by 11.5% (yoy), up from the previous month's growth of 6.9% (yoy).

This increase occurred in all of its components, namely the narrow money supply (M1), quasi money, and securities other than shares. M1 growth in April 2021 was 17.4% (yoy), higher than the previous month's growth of 10.8% (yoy). Quasi money growth has also increased, from 5.9% (yoy) in the previous month to 9.7% (yoy) in April 2021.

Based on influencing factors, the acceleration in M2 in April 2021 was mainly influenced by an increase in net foreign assets, an increase in net receivables to the Central Government, and an improvement in lending. The growth in net foreign assets was 10.7% (yoy), an increase compared to the growth in March 2021 of 7.9% (yoy).

Likewise, the growth in net receivables to the Central Government was recorded at 45.0% (yoy), higher than the previous month's achievement of 42.0% (yoy). In addition, credit growth contraction [1] improved, recorded at -2.4% (yoy) in April 2021, which was not as deep as -3.7% (yoy) in March 2021. (LM)
