JAKARTA - PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk. (WIFI) or Surge is accelerating the progress of building a fiber optic network along the railroad tracks owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero).

In addition to serving various local telecommunication and internet business players along the railroad tracks, this development is also aimed at providing higher quality, affordable, and large capacity internet services for the community and MSME players along the route of the island of Java. The fiber optic network, which will be built along 2,800 km, will first target the Jabodetabek and Bandung Raya areas as the first target.

CEO of Surge, Hermansjah Haryono, said that until now Surge has succeeded in building 45 km for the Greater Bandung and Jabodetabek train lines. "The construction of this phase 1 fiber optic cable is Surge's initial commitment to be able to support the quality of life of the community through connectivity, which this year we focus on development in Java Island. Because it is built along the railway line, it not only passes through the Cikarang industrial area, but the development of this internet access will also pass through many residential and residential areas, MSME centers, even small towns and villages in Central Java and its surroundings. We hope that this step can be utilized by the community and local business people to encourage economic growth in the regions through digital transformation, "

A number of areas that have been passed by the construction of the first phase Surge fiber optic network include the Duren Kalibata Station and Tanjung Barat Station lines. Then 8 (eight) stations on the Bandung Raya line between Ciganea Station, Purwakarta Regency and Sasaksaat Station, West Bandung Regency. The company is also in the completion stage on the Manggarai Station and Cikarang Station lines, and the Manggarai Station and Cawang Station lines, which are targeted for completion in mid-June this year. This focus is carried out considering the large need for high quality connectivity due to the rampant development of data centers by corporations in the Cikarang industrial area.

For information, since the end of 2019, Surge has collaborated with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) for the construction of optical fiber along the 2,800 km long railway or at 24 stations located in 9 KAI operational areas. (LM)
