Bentoel still faces a loss of IDR 7.10 billion in Q1 2021

JAKARTA – PT Bentoel Internasional Investama Tbk (RMBA) manages to reduce its loss to IDR 7.10 billion by efficiency methods optimalisation throughout Q1 2021. In Q1 2020, this tobacco company suffered from an IDR 43.29 billion loss.

In a financial report of Q1 2021 published on Wednesday (16/6), Steven Gerald Pore, the President Director of Bentoel, reveals that the total sales only reach IDR 2.28 trillion, dropping from last year of IDR 4.07 trillion. The main contributor for the sales is the third-party, adding IDR 1.56 trillion, followed by the affiliates of IDR 722.58 billion.

Despite the significant decline in sales, the efficiency strategies for operating expenses are optimally exerted. It allows Bentoel to score IDR 59.16 billion in operating profit, higher than the previous IDR 25.73 billion. The efficiency in the selling expenses reduces it down to IDR 94.41 billion from IDR 350.93 billion. General and administrative expenses also decrease to IDR 79.97 billion from IDR 127.31 billion, while seeing an increment in other profits from IDR 917 million to IDR 31.66 billion. (LK/ZH)
