BI predicts an increment in corporate financing demand

21 June 2021 10:08

JAKARTA – A survey by Bank Indonesia (BI) projects a growth in the corporate financing needs until August 2021, with the main source of financing being taken from the companies’ internal cash. Erwin Haryono, the Executive Director of the Head of the Communication Department of BI, announces the news in a press conference, quoted Monday (21/6).

According to Haryono, this gain comes from the information and communication, mining, financial services, health service, and corporate service sector. Meanwhile, the resources are mostly taken from internal funds (58.4%), followed by the bank facility (20.8%) and the revolving loan facility (14.4%).

On the other side, the new credit channelling in June 2021 increases as indicated by the Weighted Net Balance, in which the estimated new credit channelling reaches 71.7%. The gain applies to every bank category, including the regional government bank and the commercial bank. Meanwhile, the credit is mostly utilised on house ownership credit (KPR) and working capital loans.

In May 2021, the bank loan demand is reduced down compared to April 2021 due to the slow distribution in the KPR and working capital loans sector. However, credit usage in the consumption sector still shows a positive trend. “The primary factors driving the credit demand estimated growth in May 2021 are the business prospect and the users’ financing needs,” Haryono concludes.
