JAKARTA – PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PTVI) joins forces with two foreign partners, Taiyuan Iron & Steel Co (Tisco) Ltd and Shandong Xinhai Technology (Xinhai) Co Ltd, to establish a nickel processing plant in Bahodopi.

Febriany Eddy, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PTVI), reveals that this cooperation includes forming a joint company in nickel processing. PTVI owns 49% of the joint company, and its two partner companies cover the remaining portion.

“This agreement is an indication of our harmony and commitment, which would complete one another,” Eddy claims in a press conference, Friday (25/6).

According to Eddy, this joint company would handle nickel processing in Xinhai Industrial Park, Morowali, Central Sulawesi. Furthermore, there would be eight Rotary-Kiln Electric Furnaces (RKEF) for ferronickel processing, generating 73,000 tonnes per year. The electric source used for this processing project is taken from the natural gas power plant to reduce carbon emissions.

It is mentioned that the technical and financial requirements would be met by all parties involved at least six months since the collaboration was initiated yesterday (24/6). (LK/ZH)
