Bakrie’s media company experiences another loss of IDR 47.5 billion

JAKARTA. PT Intermedia Capital Tbk (MDIA), a media company owned by Aburizal Bakrie’s son, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, reports a loss of IDR 47.5 billion in Q1 2021.

According to the recently published financial statement, MDIA also suffered from a loss of IDR 322.05 billion last year. This year’s loss drags MDIA’s profit balance down 1.9% quarter-to-quarter (QoQ) to IDR 2.49 trillion by the end of Q1 2021.

Based on idnfinancials.com data, Anindya Bakrie currently acts as the President Commissary of MDIA. The President Director is Arief Yahya. Yahya is replacing Erick Thohir, who is presently taking office as the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).

As of March 2021, 89.99% of MDIA’s shares are still controlled by PT Visi Media Asia Tbk (VIVA), one of the media companies under Bakrie Group. Public investors share 10% of them, and the remaining portion belongs to Ahmad Zulfikar Said.

Despite its loss in Q1 2021, MDIA’s stock price in today’s trading session increases by one point to IDR 65 per share. The total shares being traded amount to 50.59 million shares worth IDR 3.34 billion. (KR/ZH)
