Tanoto Foundation donates 500 tons of oxygen for covid-19 patients

JAKARTA - The Tanoto Foundation, an independent philanthropic organization in the field of education founded by Sukanto Tanoto and Tinah Bingei Tanoto in 1981, today donated 500 tons of oxygen produced by the PT Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper (APRIL Group) factory to help meet oxygen needs for Covid-19 patients in Indonesia through the coordination of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita expressed his appreciation and gave the highest appreciation to the Tanoto Foundation and corporate partner APRIL Group – PT. Riau Mainstay Pulp & Paper (PT. RAPP) which during this pandemic condition is willing to provide medical oxygen supply assistance by diverting the oxygen plant facility for the bleaching pulp process, part of which is used for medical oxygen of 500 tons or 100 tons in five shipments. Delivery will be carried out starting Friday, July 9, 2021 from Pangkalan Kerinci to Jakarta in stages.

Based on data from the Ministry of Health, the need for medical oxygen in Indonesia has increased more than six times than usual. In a pandemic situation before the surge in the number of Covid-19 patients, the need for medical oxygen in Indonesia was around 400 tons per day. But now, medical oxygen needs reach 2,500 tons per day. (LM)
