JAKARTA - The government is accelerating the development of Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles (KBL-BB) in the country as stipulated in Presidential Regulation no. 55 of 2019. In an effort to contribute to these efforts, the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to industrialize KBL-BB, as well as participate in research for the development of components, supporting infrastructure, and handling electric vehicle battery waste.

"Currently the KBL-BB industrialization in Indonesia has formed an infrastructure preparation ecosystem that has started to move by involving stakeholders, it is hoped that the KBL-BB industry will become a leading sector," said Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Sunday ( 18/7).

The Head of the Center for Optimizing the Utilization of Industrial Technology and Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Industry, Heru Kustanto said, in order to support the facilities and infrastructure as well as supporting infrastructure for electric vehicles, the Ministry of Industry has conducted several studies related to the development of batteries and electricity charging infrastructure, as set out in the National Research Priorities (PRN).

He said some examples include engineering results from the Center for Materials and Technical Goods (B4T) in the technology of making batteries for electric motorcycles in the form of pouches. "Then from the driving side, BBLM has retrofitted the electric motor to boost electric vehicles," he continued. (LM)
