Industrial sector exports continue to increase in first half 2021

JAKARTA - The manufacturing industry continues to show positive performance with increasing export achievements in the first half of 2021. In the January-June 2021 period, the sector's shipments reached USD81.07 billion, an increase of 33.45% from the same period the previous year (y-o-y). In the first semester of 2021, the processing industry still provides the largest contribution up to 78.80% of the total national exports which reached USD102.87 billion.

Furthermore, according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), amid the pressure of the pandemic, exports of the manufacturing industry in June 2021 reached USD14.08 billion, an increase of 9.7% from May 2021 (USD12.83 billion). This increase in exports is expected to accelerate efforts to recover the national economy.

"The government continues to strive so that the industrial sector can continue to be productive and competitive, to be able to meet market demand and contribute to mitigating the impact of the pandemic on the economy," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Sunday (18/7).

The export achievement of the manufacturing sector in June 2021 amounted to USD14.08 billion, this contributed 75.91% of the total national exports which reached USD18.55 billion. This indicates that the manufacturing sector is the largest contributor to Indonesia's overall export performance in this period.

The manufacturing industry sector with export performance that dominated exports in June 2021 included the iron and steel industry with a value of USD 1.99 billion, followed by animal/vegetable fats and oils (USD 1.89 billion), electrical machinery and equipment (USD 1 billion), vehicles and parts thereof (USD734.6 Million), and rubber and rubber products (USD605 Million).
