JAKARTA. The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) intends for the construction of 13 water reservoirs in Bali to be completed by the end of 2022.

One of the said projects, which is a part of the National Strategic Program, is located in Tamblang, Buleleng Regency. This dam would then function as a reservoir collecting additional water supply for the rice field irrigation.

Basuki Hadimuljono, the Minister of PUPR, claims that the water potential utilised in Indonesia has only reached 222 billion cubic metres per year, whereas the actual water potential available for use is up to 691 billion cubic metres per year.

“However, such great potential is dispersed in different spaces and time, calling for water reservoirs,” Hadimuljono explains in a press conference.

According to idnfinancials.com, the Tamblang water reservoir is currently handled by PT PP (Persero) (PTPP) – Adijaya (KSO). This construction project, whose contract is worth IDR 816 billion, has 51.72% completed.

The Ministry of PUPR has previously established several water reservoirs in Bali. They include the Titab reservoir in Buleleng Regency, the Benel reservoir in Jembrana Regency, the Telaga Tunjung reservoir in Tabanan Regency, the Grokgak reservoir in Buleleng Regency, and the Palasari reservoir in Jembrana Regency.
