Telkom takes an interest in Elon Musk’s satellite company

JAKARTA. As a commitment to supporting the government to improve digital connectivity in Indonesia, PT Telkom Indonesia (TLKM) is having a talk with Space X, Elon Musk’s company.

VP Corporate Communication of Tekom, Pujo Pramono, explains that satellite technology plays a significant role in accelerating digital connectivity distribution across the country with Indonesia’s geographical condition.

Telkom also expresses its willingness to cooperate with any competent parties regarding satellite technology utilisastion, including the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite owned by Elon Musk, Starlink. “This is what bases our collaboration discussion between Telkom and SpaceX,” Pramono affirms, as quoted by Bisnis on Wednesday (21/7).

SpaceX, Pramono further elaborates, has a valuable competency in developing satellite technology. Thus, he hopes that this collaboration would provide a solution to accelerate the connectivity across Indonesia. Pramono then claims that the collaboration scheme and investment value are still within the early exploration stage. (AM/ZH)
