Bappebti blocks 109 illegal commodity futures trading websites

JAKARTA. Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) has once again blocked 109 websites operating illegal or unauthorised commodity futures trading activities in June 2021.

Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana, Head of Bappepti, explains that the site blockage is a joint operation with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. “Despite claiming to be legal under foreign regulators, all futures trading offers should have obtained permission from Bappebti,” Wardhana further elaborates in a press conference, received by idnfinancials.com.

From January until June 2021, Bappebti has been reported to block 622 illegal commodity futures trading websites in total. Wardhana claims that this restriction would keep being enforced by the government to ensure the validity and legality of any futures trading business owners.

Meanwhile, M Syist, Head of Legislation and Enforcement of Bappebti, asks the public to be cautious at using commodity futures trading platforms, particularly those who promise fixed income and profit-sharing in their offered investment scheme.

“Do not easily deposit funds to some accounts with a promise of return in a certain percentage within a certain time range,” Syist further warns. (KR/ZH)
