PLGI projects PLTM Aek Simonggo to enter COD this year

JAKARTA – PT Pembangunan Graha Lestari Indah Tbk (PGLI) projects the Micro Hydropower Plant (lit. Pembangkit Tenaga Listrik Tenaga Mikro Hidro/PLTM) of Aek Simonggo (AS) in North Sumatera to enter the commercial operation date (COD) phase by the end of 2021 after being postponed in 2019. President Commissary of PGLI, Nelson Sihotang, discloses through the public expose, quoted Thursday (29/7).

“Initially, we set the target to enter COD phase by the end of 2019. However, due to some technical and non-technical issues, the target is rendered unattainable,” Sihotang claims.

It is revealed that the technician assigned to install the turbine should depart home to China due to the COVID-19 pandemic at the end of 2019, delaying the project a year later. However, the said technician has made it back to the project in March 2021.

According to Sihotang, the company has received the green light to proceed with the electricity network construction from PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero), following the public’s electricity needs. “By the end of this year, we hopefully could set the COD with PLN. It means selling the electricity to PLN. However, the revenue would be realised in 2022,” he adds.

Sihotang also claims to currently negotiate with PLN to secure the highest tariff stated in the purchasing power agreement (PPA). (LK/ZH)
