JAKARTA. The floating solar power plant in Cirata would enter its construction phase after completing the financial close step. This project is worth USD 145 million.

Gong Matua Hasibuan, President Director of PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali (PJB), schedules the floating power plant in Cirata to be commercially operated in November 2022. The project is said to support the New and Renewable Energy (EBT) mix target of 23% in 2025.

“The project would bring out positive impacts, of which is to increase EBT mix in Indonesia, improve the investment climate, and open up domestic working opportunities,” Hasibuan stated in the financial close declaration a couple of days ago.

Meanwhile, Dadan Kusdiana, Director of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), explains that this joint project with Masdar would be equipped with a 145 MWac capacity. This project is claimed to be the first floating solar power plant in Indonesia and the biggest one yet in Southeast Asia.

The Ministry of ESDM observes that Indonesia has procured potential floating power plants in hydropower plant facilities, whose energy could reach 12 GW, dispersed in 28 locations. Meanwhile, potential floating power plants in lakes and water reservoirs are reported to generate 28 GW from 375 different points. (KR/ZH)
