JAKARTA - Pelindo 1 was able to record positive growth in the first semester of 2021 by recording container loading and unloading of 717,030 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), a growth of 10.79 percent compared to the achievement of the first semester of 2020 which amounted to 647,172 TEUs.
The throughput of international containers reached 291,016 TEUs, up 3.18 percent from the achievement in the same period last year of 282,039 TEUs. Domestic throughput in the first semester of 2021 were 426,014 TEUs, an increase of 16.67 percent compared to last year's 365,133 TEUs.
"In the midst of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Pelindo 1 was still able to record a positive performance in the first semester of 2021. For example, the throughput was able to grow 10.79 percent in the first semester of this year when compared to the same period in 2021. This is of course mostly driven by logistics distribution at container terminals belonging to Pelindo 1,” explained Pelindo 1 President Director, Prasetyo.
In line with the increasing growth of container flows, the flow of ships and goods at Pelindo 1's ports also shows positive growth. Ship visits throughout the first semester of 2021 were 29,392 calls, growing 7.25 percent from the achievement in the same period in 2020 of 27,404 calls. (LM)
